Presented by Mario Tozzi, a geologist, and TV presenter, host of RAI’s ‘Gaia - The planet that lives’, ‘Third Planet’, and ‘Sapiens - a solo planet’, Out of the Mud (Fuori dal Fango) is a feature documentary that treats the catastrophic floods in May 2023 in Romagna, Italy.

Returning to the flooded locations, Out of the Mud uses this paradigmatic flood to reveal how Italy’s Geography, Geology and climate have changed during the last century and what should and should not be done in order to avoid such disasters and how those affected seek to emerge from the resulting environmental and economic crisis. In addition, it also looks at how Germany has reacted to its own catastrophic flooding.
