Torn Silk interweaves the quest of a modern-day German woman with the dramatic events that affected the lives of three young women in the Chinese provinces of Hunan and Jiangxi between August and October 1934; a period of volatile instability, during which Hitler proclaimed himself leader of an aggressive German Reich, Colonialist Japan continued to annex territory in the North of China, and in the South, a certain Mao Zedong and the Red Army were on the point of beginning their legendary Long March.
Torn Silk was one of nine European projects selected for the 2018 Sino-European project Lab organised by Bridging the Dragon in Beijing and Berlin.
