A native of Nuremberg, Jakob studied German philology and philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilian University, before attending the renowned HFF (University of Television and Film) in Munich. Since then, his professional journey has seen him assist director Dominik Graf and gain further experience at the Munich-based companies Free X and K5 Film/K5 International.

Since 1997, he has written, directed and produced a number of short films and documentaries that have been selected for festivals, and has recently completed his first feature length documentary, 'My Way'.
